Wine Spectator’s Best of Award of Excellence

For the Restaurant Zur Weinsteige

We are especially pleased to have have been the recipient of one of the highest international accolades of its kind for the wine list of our fine dining restaurant Zur Weinsteige in Stuttgart - Wine Spectator’s Best of Award of Excellence, an honor that has only been bestowed upon a total of 8 establishments in Germany in the prize’s history.

The internationally renowned New York wine industry magazine Wine Spectator gives awards in 3 different categories every year. For a prize in the second category, “Best of Award of Excellence”, a wine list must not only perfectly compliment the price and style of the restaurant with its selection, but also possess a depth of vintage and regional breadth. Our already celebrated wine list was able to impress the judges of Wine Spectator across the board.

The exceptional conditions in our historic 1870 vaulted wine cellar are clear to see: the cool temperatures and consistent, ideal level of humidity offer prime conditions for our approximately 15,000 bottles of over 1,000 different wines from around the world to perfectly develop and age.

Whether you are drawn to us by the largest selection of Rieslings in Baden-Würrtemberg or the spot on recommendations of our restaurant manager Andreas Scherle, who, with the utmost care and expertise, is always able to suggest the perfect glass to accompany the offerings of our critically acclaimed kitchen, enjoyment in excellence awaits you in our Restaurant Zur Weinsteige in Stuttgart. The Zur Weinsteige teams of Executive Chef Jörg Scherle and wine expert Andreas Scherle are looking forward to serving you.

The Award Level:

Best of Award of Excellence

"Our second-tier award, created to give special recognition to restaurants that clearly exceed the requirements of the Award of Excellence. These lists typically offer 350 or more selections, along with superior presentation, and display either vintage depth, with several vertical offerings of top wines, or excellent breadth across several wine regions."
