Chef de Partie- Garde Manger/Pastry

For our fine dining restaurant Zur Weinsteige

Our critically acclaimed Restaurant Zur Weinsteige, with 50 seats in the main dining room, 30 seats on the outdoor terrace and up to 36 seats in the private dining rooms, has maintained its place on the list of Stuttgart’s Top 10 Restaurants for almost two decades. Executive Chef Jörg Scherle showcases modern, creative regional cuisine in an elegantly rustic dining room with gold leaf elements. 

The wine list, with over 1,400 entries, is one of the top 20 in Germany. 

Requirements
  • Completed apprenticeship or equivalent training as a professional chef (Koch/Köchin)
  • Fine dining experience

Apprenticeship Opportunities

Restaurant Hospitality Apprenticeship (Restaurantfachfrau/Restaurantfachmann)

During this 3 year apprenticeship you’ll get a well-rounded introduction to fine dining. You’ll learn all of the fundamentals from breakfast service to casual restaurant service (in Weinhaus Stetter - the traditional wine locale in Stuttgart), with our gourmet catering service as well as the à la Carte service in our fine dining restaurant Zur Weinsteige in Stuttgart. 

Job prospects:

Well trained front-of-the-house hospitality professionals are in high demand. An apprenticeship with us opens the door to a career in top restaurants and hotels in Germany as well as abroad. With dedication and drive, in only a few short years you could be promoted to Chef de Rang, Captain, Functions Manager, General Manager or even become a Restauranteur. 

Apprenticeship Qualifications:

  • Mittlere Reife or Abitur (apprenticeship length shortened to 2.5 years)
  • Minimum age at start of apprenticeship: 18 years
  • Language skills (fluent German, English skills preferred)
  • Teamwork and good communication
  • Organisation and sales ability 
  • Well mannered, proper hygiene, self-confidence 

Apprenticeship Duties:

  • Greeting, advising and providing customer service to guests
  • Cleaning and care of guest rooms, preparation and quality management as needed
  • Serving of food and drinks to hospitality standards
  • Upscale wine service 
  • Tableside service including fileting, carving and serving 
  • Preparation of simple dishes
  • Lead sales discussions and create specials 
  • Planning of events including both organization and execution
  • Manage catering logistics
  • Run a service station in the restaurant 
  • Development, execution and analysis of of marketing strategies
  • Scheduling, managing guest correspondence and storage management

Hotel Hospitality Apprenticeship (Hotelfachfrau/Hotelfachmann)

During this 3 year apprenticeship in the Hotel Zur Weinsteige in Stuttgart you’ll get a well-rounded introduction to all hotel departments - including housekeeping, restaurant service and administration. 

Job prospects:

Hotel professionals have excellent career opportunities within a wide variety of hotel departments: housekeeping, reception, restaurant service, functions or administration. With dedication and drive you could have the chance to become a department manager, hotel director or even open your own hotel.
